Fabulous Friday: GUESS

I love GUESS brand. I buy only their handbags and shoes (sometimes I buy other brands).  They are just my all-time favorite. And they are celebrating 30 years!

I fell in love with GUESS when I was in eighth grade and my aunt from Chicago gave me a GUESS sling handbag.

Anyway, I wish I could help them celebrate by attending these parties. Here’s one:

it’s PIC FEST time – what’s in my purse

once again, these things accidentally end up happening.

An optical illusion. No pun intended.

Smoking guns.

Thinking about my next move.

Oh hi there little giraffes.

A coupon! I’m going to try and remember to use this.

I love this KHENRI t-shirt. It makes me so happy.

One two there, I lost count… fish always die.

I love stickers..

And neon colors are even bomber.

My turtle must have drank some redbull because she has WINGS.

8/7 Central wrote me a letter. Once.

I’m an artist. This is a sticker.

Lots of me.

More of me.

Anyone ever seen the episode of 30Rock where Jenna is dating the drag queen who dresses like her? See where I’m getting at.

Looking through the Juicy compact.

These are things I found in my purse.

I coached a U6 soccer team. We were winners.

Fitness water is delis.

I like this new Ralph Lauren fragrance but I what I really want is the free Polo hat that comes with it. I wonder if Candians think Polo hats are cool?

Lots of Sephora lip glosses and fragrances. I’m out of control.

When I wondered if Candians liked Polo hats, I was talking about you.

I’m watching you watching my pictures.

I can’t see anything with glasses.

VIP sesh.

If you were a status on Facebook, I’d like you.

Shh keep it down, boy.

Where’s the screen? I can’t see the screen?

heels & their owners

as a sequel to the previous post – i am going to showcase some of the shoes that i have done for previous clients.. for fun!

firstly, one of my gorgeous friends from florida was going to an event and needed a pair of shoes to match her dress. so she sent me a photo of the dress and left the rest up to me.

Based on the dress, I decided that I would create a shoe with the same swirl pattern and add a touch of sparkleness, because who doesn’t want to sparkle from head to toe?
So birthed The Enchantment.

I designed The Verano – the HAUTE shoe for the summer – based off a skirt that I had purchased. A black skirt with a hot pink band at the bottom and because I’m a designer and a nerd and enjoy the CMYK of things.

So here’s the skirt and shoes together.

Upclose: I created a hot pink flower with ribbons falling out of it and vintage buttons in the middles.

Other shoes I love:

The Napalm, based off FIGHT CLUB (one of my all-time favorite movies), for one of the funniest chicas I know. You can visit her blog at: http://harleymay.com/

And this Becka Diamond inspired spike pair, The Edge. Yes, those are real spikes.

The Scintillation, which has over 1,000 Swarovski crystals on it. Designed for a client for her bachelorette party.

I love this mens pair, designed for a hip hop lover. This is called The 808 and there are mixtapes on the side and the insides have been strung out across the entire shoe and in some places strung around to form the name 808 (which is the name of their t-shirt company). BOOM. You can find these RAD peeps on www.808shirts.com.

And a Habs pair, for the hockey lover.

And sometimes gooey eyeballs & zombie heads are the key.

I designed the next pair for Camille Styles, based in Texas, after her beautiful post on ballet. You can visit her website at www.camillestyles.com.

The Champagne was designed for Toya out in LA to wear for NYE on a yacht. She already knew what type of dress she was having, so she just needed a shoe to match.
Her dress was going to have lace and be a champagne color. So we incorporated lace on the toe and a lacey ribbon to wrap around her ankles, complete with stones on the back of the heel.

These next pair, The Desert, was designed for a fab photographer, Lani Garfield, in Palm Springs, California. The boot was designed for her to take on her trip to BURNING MAN.

One of my favorite, chicest designs, The Spectator, took a trip to San Francisco.

A lot of people ask if I get really weird shoe requests. I think some people are nervous their ideas will be too weird. Um, hello? Look at me! There is never anything too weird for me to work on! I’ve done eyeballs (as aforementioned) and this Dexter-inspired pair, called The Killer:

This pair was designed for actress, Abby Wathen (www.abbywathen.net) in Venice, Ca.

Ooh, The Bolo is a fun pair. The client wanted a “country” inspired pair of heels. So vintage bolo ties wrap around the ankle with vintage clips to secure them in place.

These 2 pairs The Hammer were designed for The Hard Hats High Heels gals. hardhatshighheels.com

If you’re new to the Khenri scene, what I do is take your ideas and make them a reality. I can match colors to your outfits or design something to match your personality. There are no weird ideas. And if you don’t have an idea, I can help create something for you to love.

in the KHENRI lab

I am SO excited for the nice weather. It is much more fun to create outfits based on your shoes when you don’t have to worry about bad weather!

Here are my most recent creations, as in, over the weekend! I got so pumped up on Friday that I just couldn’t handle myself. I was like, I’m doing a SPIKE pair. Mainly inspired by Becka Diamond. She is just one of those Don’t Mess With Me kind of chicks, and I dig that.

So I incorporated her edgey style into a pair of Khenris. Allow me to introduce, The Edge:

Yes those are real spikes from a hardware store… because… I’m hard.

Okay, so I love-love-love The Scintillation. If you don’t remember it, here it is:

And I know a lot of you have been asking about ordering this pair but get a little shy when I tell you the cost of the shoe. Well, even though having the ENTIRE shoe encrusted in Swarovski crystals is beyond amazing, I know, there are other alternatives to getting that bling-aspect without the cost of The Scintillation. So here is one example that I created. This is one of my favorite pairs of heels ever. It’s a suede shoe with hard plastic wedge and straps around the ankle. I bought to wear out to Palm Springs and ended up wearing them for quite a few of my costume changes. But I wanted it to be blingy, yet not overbearing – just like a little dainty bling. Like a “hey, I’m fancy”. Sooooooo….

The pictures are crap, I’m aware. And they totally don’t do the shoe justice. But I am OVERLY in love with this pair now. Yes, even more so than I was before.

So if you have an old pair of your shoes and you bring them to me – we can pick out a color of Swarovski crystals and lightly bling the crap out of them so you too can experience some “scintillating” feelings.

I also had a shoe order by my wonderful pal and Khenri model, Pete’s gorgeous girlfriend.  And voila:

Watch out for the hotrod going to be wearing The Hotrod! So excited I get to bring these gorgeous little puppies to their owner tomorrow!

And then I had another shoe order (both of these clients brought me their own shoes – which I LOVE revamping). These were cute little boots and she just wanted some stars on them. I must say, I really enjoy meeting my clients in person. Of course, I love talking to people over email or phone too. But it was really neat to see this upcoming client’s attire to our little Khenri meeting. It was great energy for me to feed off when doing her shoes. Her personality came through in her accessories and choice of color and even her makeup. So I was able to channel that and create a pair specifically for her.

What I thought was fun about these was although they are simply star-studded, when you put your feet together, they make a star. Aw!

And last but not least – this pair is So for sale. It’s originally a $125 shoe (The Celebrity), but it is on sale for $75 now and it’s a supped up version of The Celebrity. The jewelry lays across the top of your foot and then it also wraps around your ankle. You will SURELY need to watch out for the paparazzi when wearing these! They are a size eight and if you want them today, they are yours! Just email me or comment below and I’ll send them to you! I’d love for them to have a good home! You are also, of course, more than welcome to order this style in your shoe size.

So introducing….. The Celebrity on steroids:

Enjoy the rest of your Monday, lovies!

I’m a designer

When I’m not at home in my studio painting shoes and making sure you guys look fly, I also design a bunch of crap.

Calling cards are so IN right now. And I can help you get your pretty little paws on some great cards. designed especially for you. Of course, I do more than just designing business cards… you’ll get a taste for that here in a bit. But for now, here are some examples of business cards/calling cards I’ve done in the past.

My very first Khenri card.

My second Khenri card. I liked the feel of the first with the white space and the ambiguity, but I also started doing the menswear so I wanted to add a little manly touch.

And then when I released the Some Like It Haute campaign, I wanted something bolder. I also wanted it to showcase a pair of shoes and get the point across that you can have me design a pair of shoes to match an actual outfit.

Some other calling cards – one for a client here who liked the patterns of Ralph Lauren, so I incorporated this into the card. And left it blank on the back for him and his potential clients to write notes.

And this lovely lady loves fleur di lis (I’d done a pair of shoes for her previously with some on them). She’s fabulous in the social media world and needed something classy and fun to match her personality.

This card was designed for a salon (I did their whole rebranding as well). The strip on the back was designed to be able to write down the date/time of your next appointment. The card matched the decor of the salon.

And this new company (as of a couple years ago) needed a logo – so I designed the logo for the business and a card to match the vintage feel of the company.

When Fusion, a new boutique in Clive, were opening, I helped design their logo/mark and then took that design to their business cards as well.

For my fabulous designer friend, a clean-cut card.

Remember that calling cards/business cards are not just for those of you who have businesses. These are great for making contacts with other people and networking. Instead of having to fumble around with your phone or a pen to write any information down, you can always just hand them a beautiful card – full of your personality!

Ask me how I can help you bring the classy back!

some like it HAUTE party

Outfit of the evening. Scarf from Morocco and KHENRI shoes.

KHENRI had a street team going on and recruited people to the party.
Everyone had these name tags to wear; pink for girls, blue for boys.

Mandy was wearing a custom KHENRI shirt. The Palm Springs inspired blue palm trees and “some like it haute” text.

Stephanie looking fly in that tie and KHENRI Love tee. And Heather looking bomb in her custom KHENRI tee.

And then the Roths showed up with PINK FLAMINGOS. Here’s Camille in her original KHENRI graffiti sweety shirt and she was wearing her brand new The Lilac heels.

And I got the bartender to wear KHENRI too.

Chris, Ben, Tom and my photographer Lucas.

I named this flamingo Pete.

And all the ladies.

I love the Pearsons!

Pete was thirsty

Pete photo-bombed the SECURITY.

Sharing.

Pete was like “Yo girl where you at”

Texting.

So gangsta

Waiting for the train to pass.

Glowstick necklace.

A fried flamingo.

All in all, this was a fabulous event! Thanks to everyone who made it out!!! I enjoyed my celebration of the website… Let’s do it again soon!
