Last year for my birthday celebration, we did a Hollywood glam theme, where my guests dressed up in tuxedos and gowns and there were lots of pearls and diamonds. A red carpet and a private dining room at one of my favorite French restaurants, Django. It was super classy and super superb.
For this year, I decided to release my inner-gangster and came up with the Snapbacks & Tattoos theme, inspired by Driicky Graham’s song:
So the invite:
We began the night at Buzzard Billy’s, a Cajun-style restaurant. Great food and the new joint on 3rd is awesome. So many other things on the menu I want to try. I think we received not-so-stellar service because we were dressed a little… hood. We also got seriously asked if we knew where to buy bath salts… are you serious??
So there’s my Khenrified snapback. I went to Mid-K Beauty Supply to buy it and when I set it up on the register, the cashier was like “What are you going to do with this?” I said, “Wear it.” He said, “What? You tryin’ to look gangster? I don’t think you can pull off the hard look.” Of course, I was wearing a Ralph Lauren turtleneck, so maybe that’s why he judged me.
I had my wonderful friend, Ariel, tat me up.
And here are a few shots of the night.
This guy was not a guest at my party, but still fit the theme!
And don’t worry the planning committee is already doing mockups for next year’s festivities!
